undefeated streak ended by the seagulls

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG !!!!!!!!!!!
we did it.

Most definantly the biggest upset of the season happened on Sunday following the most intense girl fight in the match before hand. Cronulla had their team back. With Sarah back up front, miku supporting shelly in the midfield and ash back from the slopes, expectations were high. The girls knew what to expect and knew who exactly they would have to mark. Although caringbah redbacks played with 9, we left them walking from the field with not only 9 players but 9 goals against.

Probably the sloppiest goal of the game was our first. Bec claimed it was hers but i said it was shelly's. and im the boss so i win. :) shelly took a lovely corner which floated and curled through the thin air. not quite expecting such a kick, the keeper caught the ball feeling like she had don ea magnificant job before even realizing she was standing in the goals. This is where many thought we may drop and sophie from the redbacks would shine. Their star player began making runs through the midfield off the kick off but it was no threat as she would then come face to face with our aggressive sweeper vik.

Our second goal came from Bec. And im not going to lie, it was fairly impressive. A cross from shelly, which landed on the head of bec, pushed the ball metres in the air. (what a terrible header) however the ball did drop back down and she was able to head it for a second time putting it over the head of the goalkeeper. YAY!

Now im not going to lie, i have just had a blank and forgot alot of the goals. however, i know sarah was able to score a hat - trick on her return, and i think ash may have even scored 3.

Our final and possibly the most exciting goal, definantly for the coach was a goal from Kristina. Before this, kristina was on the sideline with coach Healey and super x coach ian. kristina asked if she could play up front. pft no chance, kristina isnt a forward, she wont score. We made a deal, if she was unable to score, her career as striker will end. Viktoria yet again stole the ball from sophie, and belted it up front. Kristina unleashed a speed we have never seen before, beating her opposition in the foot race. now the shot, please dont stuff it, she shoots, GOALLLL!. very happy coach.

I know its annoying when coaches say this, but i thought everyone played very well and were extremely determined. The only let down in the game was the goal against the gulls. nearly a brilliant save from britt saved us but unfortuantly it slowly dropped into our side of the net.

i could write alot more, but im actully at college at the moment and probably should listen to the teacher.

well done girls. VERY PORUUDDDAAAAA YOU!

No subs meant no victory!

A game im sure we will all try to forget as soon as possible. of course number one, travelling over 3 and a half hours away at some stupid hour in the morning is not the greatest and losing 3 nil a few weeks before semis isnt either. With yet again only 11 players, the girls were forced to push through the whole 90 minutes without a single break.

we held in there the first half only conceeding one goal, however the half time team talk did not seem to do much as heathcote were able to slot another 2. injuries, shoving and tears happened throughout the game, with helen being kicked in the mouth, and kristy being studded to the chest. Although the game did not have the intensity we like to see, the girls put in all they could.

i guess we could use this to our advantage because now heathcote will be very confidant to beat us again. but next time we will have a full team ready to push our way to the grand final. redbacks next weekend girls. expect a hypo and loud coach. dont be to shocked. We can still win this!

A win the ref stole from the gulls!

A week before this game we knew we would be short on subs and knew that coming up against a strong bonnet bay team would be a difficult task. however the task became harder when a player pulled out on the day giving the seagulls only 10 men to perform with. It was going to be hard and positions were changed to hopefully keep the bombers out of our goals.

We took the lead early when a ball from a cross of ashleigh came lose and fell to Aimees feet, who has been a goal scoring hero at the moment. she was able to tuck the ball neatly into the back of the net, giving the coach and players a great deal of hope. The game continued and we went into the second half still 1 up.

Unforutantly the opposition was able to score the first goal of the second half. for the first time this year we had possibly the most sero refereees i have ever seen. when sending bec off for an ear ring she is not supposed to take out we went from 10 players to 9. not long after, Anya was sent off for a drip of blood. With this being said, our defence was left with 3. When asked the ref to return to the field, she ignored. seconds later, bonnet bay placed yet another behind a poor kristy.

The girls continued to fight and was rewarded when shelly claimed to take a shot, that looked like a cross. however it went in so who cares. Shelly chipped the keeper and gave the seagulls the 1 point and kept us into third position. looking at the tables its going to be pretty hard to get into the top two so it looks like we will be up against bonnet bay in the semis.

A much harder game next week then an even harder the week after. see you sunday.

Sarah voted as seagulls next fitness trainer

Well done sarah. The team beleives that you are the girl who is most likely to last the whole 90 minutes without a drop of sweat. you will be greatly missed for the upcoming game against Bonnet bay.

Congratulations!

Seagulls to face, 3rd, 2nd, then 1st!

Girls after a farley easy win today, its time to lift and get a little more serious. our next three games are bonnet bay who are third, heatcote, in second and redbacks up front. Today your coach was a nerd and went to alfords point to watch Caringbah redbacks play menai. The redbacks went onto the field with 9 players and were up 4 nil at half time. We however only beat menai 5 nil, with a full team. However with this being said, i truely do beleive we are better than them. Redbacks have 1 or maybe even 2 good players. One very good. and Sofia, she is on your side. your just as good.

Anyway, this week we are up against Bonnet Bay (annoying coach). After a very poor performace against this team last game, its really time to lift our game and push for the victory. With key players Sarah, the twins, and miku out, positions may be changed around slightly so be prepared.

The next is Heathcote, who we have beaten once. Win that game and its into the semis for us.

Our next game will be against competition leaders redbacks. The week of the game, i will talk to you about their key players and what they are good at and so on. so be prepared for a big next 3 weekends as the finals get closer.

NO GOING OUT THESE NEXT SATURDAY NIGHTS!!!
:)

Seagulls keep St pats unwinnable

The alarms went off way to early this morning, and it was obvious alot of people were not very keen for todays match up against competitions lowest side, St pats. With only 11 able to get out of bed, again we had 4 new keepers due to an injured kristy and an unheard of, britt. Thanks to Aimee, sarah nicole and beth.

The game started at a low tempo pace, however todays performace was probably the greatest peice of passing i have seen all year. (maybe due to the fact we were versing 9 people.) Bec was the first to score after putting enough preassure on the keeper who then fumbled it to becs feet easily placing the ball in the back of the net. next up was shelly. After 56 million shots on goal, one finally went in. :) Ashes goal, number 3, was very impressive, from quite a distance she took a touch and was able to hit it perfectly. Aimee was next up, after yet another magnificant threw ball from ash. Aimee was able to outrun the defence and put it beyond the goalkeepers reach.

Viktoria came to the game not feeling 100% after a big night but was able to score her first goal of the 2010 season. Another beautiful shot from Aimee sealed the win, and boosted the confidence of a very good seagulls side.

I would also like to thank the defenders for pulling in there today, with not much action it would have been farely boring. so thanks to sofia anya nicole and bec.

Man of the Match today was very difficult between ash and nicole, but it would have to go to nicole after her speedy defence kept our new keepers feeling happy at the end of the game. Great work nicole.

Good work girls, but trust me. the next three weeks are biggggggg games!!!!

5 goals does the job!

In a performance against menai 9 rounds ago, it was just one of those games where we had 90% of the possession but only 2 goals. Today, we were able to slot 5, with the first by ash, aimee, and then our hat-trick hero sarah.

With both our keeper and back up keeper out with reasons, 4 brave girls including, kristina, ash, vik and helen stepped up to defend the goal line. As coach i would like to thank those 4 girls very much, even though i had to force you a little bit. Ellen returned today after 12 weeks out with an injured knee but missed the whole second half after yet a second knee injury. Ash opened up the game with a simple yet officiant goal putting the girls 1 nil infront within the first 15 minutes.

The game continued to go our way, with shots from distance coming from miku shelly and bec. Shelly did her usually thing, dribbling through 7 or 8 defenders, just falling short of goal. Vik was solid in defence controlling the team, and making sure no balls threatened our nervous 4 keepers. Anya seems to be improving every game. If a mistake was made, she made sure she won the ball back and cleared it safely. Nicole showed some pace and class while sofia yet again showed how reliable she is as a defender.

Probably the most exciting part of the game, and the most impressive. I have always said to the forwards, "when the mids have the ball make a run behing your defender and call for the ball", Today this happened. Ash had won the ball from the defence, and dribbled towards the line where Aimee put her foot down and accelerated. probably the greatest ball i have seen all season saw aimee beat her defender and put the ball into the back of the net.

Beth was dangerous every time a ball was put in front of her and miku came close hitting the crossbar. late into the second half miku put in a dangerous slide tackle possibly ending the poor girls career. After speaking to the press after about the harsh tackle, her response was, "mehh ah well". lol.

Girls we are on track to the semis. Redbacks are clearly an amazing team with alot of talent, but so are we, so lets put in at training and hopefully walk away with the Womans 18 championship.

Man of The Match - Aimee
