A week before this game we knew we would be short on subs and knew that coming up against a strong bonnet bay team would be a difficult task. however the task became harder when a player pulled out on the day giving the seagulls only 10 men to perform with. It was going to be hard and positions were changed to hopefully keep the bombers out of our goals.
We took the lead early when a ball from a cross of ashleigh came lose and fell to Aimees feet, who has been a goal scoring hero at the moment. she was able to tuck the ball neatly into the back of the net, giving the coach and players a great deal of hope. The game continued and we went into the second half still 1 up.
Unforutantly the opposition was able to score the first goal of the second half. for the first time this year we had possibly the most sero refereees i have ever seen. when sending bec off for an ear ring she is not supposed to take out we went from 10 players to 9. not long after, Anya was sent off for a drip of blood. With this being said, our defence was left with 3. When asked the ref to return to the field, she ignored. seconds later, bonnet bay placed yet another behind a poor kristy.
The girls continued to fight and was rewarded when shelly claimed to take a shot, that looked like a cross. however it went in so who cares. Shelly chipped the keeper and gave the seagulls the 1 point and kept us into third position. looking at the tables its going to be pretty hard to get into the top two so it looks like we will be up against bonnet bay in the semis.
A much harder game next week then an even harder the week after. see you sunday.
